Because I grew up with my parents happily married, I don’t idolize celebrity couples the way some people do. But Grant Hill and his Grammy-nominated R&B songbird wife, Tamia, have always been 1 of the great NBA couples to watch. The 2 have a love story that’s not all about the glitz and glamour. They’ve endured hardships just like your average couple. Though after 13 years of marriage, the couple have remained a united front.
I’ve been a Grant Hill fan since his Duke days. Statistically speaking, he’s my generation’s version of what Lebron is now. And had he not been sidelined with ankle injuries and an infection that nearly killed him, I think he’d be an incredible veteran to watch on the floor in a 82 game season. Now on the Clippers roster and what could be his last opportunity to get the elusive championship ring, Hill talked about how he and his celebrity wife manage the scheduling conflicts, such as this weekend’s Grammy Awards, that often come up.
“It always seems to conflict with the season. Hopefully she’ll make another album when I retire, and hopefully it’ll get nominated so I’ll get a chance to go.”
For Tamia, it comes down to being able to have the freedom to pick and choose what she does musically.
“Sometimes you drop the ball, and you pick it up and start where you left off. As the children get older, it becomes more difficult because now they have a schedule and things they’re doing as well. But at the end of the day, if it isn’t good for me and my family, it isn’t good for me.
Her album Beautiful Surprise is nominated for 2 Grammys. If you haven’t checked it out, it’s definitely worth a listen. And you can read the rest of this great article HERE
