When I saw Chris play on the Knicks Summer League team, I knew that this guy deserved an honest shot in the league to prove himself. Looks like he’s doing just that.
Copeland played 19 minutes and put up 21 points, along with a steal and a block in the 1st preseason match up against the Knicks’ division rivals. He made a clutch defensive play in the last minute that gave the Knicks the W. In game 2 of this preseason series, Copeland scored a team high 34 points in 37 minutes, with just 1 turnover. When did Landry Fields ever do numbers like that? I’ll wait……..
I know, it’s only preseason. It’s plain to see, though, that Chris Copeland is doing all the little things that Landry Fields never really did in the 3 years we had him. So far, Copeland has shown much control on the defensive end and can easily maintain confidence in his shooting. He moves well without the ball. The only drawback I did notice that his basketball IQ isn’t quite where it should be for a player his age. However, I like what he brings off the bench and his overall tenacity on the floor. Dear James Dolan, please hang onto this guy!
