Heralded as 1 of the repeat offensive weapons of the year, wide receiver Torrey Smith put up an incredible game just 24 hours after learning of his brother’s tragic death. 19 year old Tevin Jones was killed Saturday in a motorcycle accident; just as the Ravens were gearing up for their perennial AFC rivals, the New England Patriots. With his teammates’ support and the well wishes of the entire Ravens community, Smith’s decision came at the very last minute. In honor of his brother, a moment of silence fell over M&T Bank Stadium prior to kickoff. When asked what that homage to his brother meant to him, Smith said “The way they [the organization] care about you, that’s the reason why I wanted to be in Baltimore, that’s the reason I wanted to be a Raven.”
On 10 targets, Flacco connected with Smith to find the end zone twice. I’m sure I’m not alone when I say this guy has the utmost respect of fans of the game everywhere to play through the type of pain he’s going through right now. Prayers to his family.
