Amar’e Stoudemire Pens Childrens’ Book Chronicling Childhood Experiences

If you’re an athlete, there’s 3 different non-sports related ventures you can pursue – a reality show, a fashion line/cologne, or books. The Knicks’ $100 million dollar man, Amar’e Stoudemire, has chosen the most impressionable of the 3.

His book series is being released through Scholastic Books, with the prevailing themes, according to STAT, of “[My book series] gives a lot of messages about the responsibility of working and doing homework and learning to be leaders with my friends and be a positive influence.” His primary reason for the series is to make reading fun and to not feel like a chore or a boring activity to do. And what better way to get kids to read than to make it about an activity and a person they can connect with?

The 1st book of the 3-part series is entitled Home Court and is currently available on Amazon. The 2nd installment, Double Team, is only available for presale right now. It’ll be released in October 2012.
